Trying to move a little more ???
Posted by: momgaub in General Cardio, Strength TrainingNow don’t expect wonderful things just because I have a son that is an IRONMAN, but, I started a new program at the YMCA. They have what they are calling “the 12 week room/program”. The idea is for people who have not participated in regular exercise recently. There is a trainer, either in this special room or at least “available”, for advice. The trainer will review progress every 3 or 4 weeks and make recommendations as well as be available for any questions. There are treadmills, ellipticals, and seated bikes for cardio and 8 different strength machines. The machines are connected to the FITLINX system, so that everything you do on those machines gets automatically recorded and you can also manually record activities you do outside that room, such as swimming, water aerobics, playing sports, or any outdoor activity. The FITLINX system also gives feedback while you are exercising with audible signals if you are doing everything per form and different signals if your form is off. The YMCA will give special awards for pound lifted or miles walked or run. (fitpoints) My goal is to go 3 times a week and gradually increase my endurance and strength as well as try to lose a few more pounds.
